For an exciting extension to their classroom experience, JK–5th grade students are welcome to participate in Parker PM and Parker P.L.U.S. after their school day ends.
THE IMPORTANCE OF PLAY
Current research confirms strong links between creative play and language, physical, cognitive and social development. Play is a healthy, essential part of childhood where students have the freedom and opportunity to expand their knowledge of the world around them, develop their motor skills and focus on their peers.
Developed to serve as a safe, nurturing and stimulating home away from home for children of working or busy parents, Parker PM offers students a wide array of indoor and outdoor organized activities coupled with opportunities for creative free play as well as structured quiet time for reading the completion of homework. Parker PM begins for enrolled students immediately after dismissal:
For Parker’s Junior and Senior Kindergarteners, Parker PM begins at 11:45 a.m.
For students in grades 1 through 5, Parker PM begins at 3:10 p.m.
Parker PM ends each day at either 3:10 p.m. or 6 p.m.
Registration for Parker PM for the 2014–15 year is available here.
PARKER P.L.U.S. (Programs for Learning Unique Stuff)
Parker P.L.U.S. features three sessions offering a range of mini-classes geared toward exposing students to a wonderful sampling of exciting and unique activities. Students need not attend Parker PM to participate in P.L.U.S. classes.
Session II P.L.U.S. offerings for JK and SK are available here
Session II P.L.U.S. offerings for 1st–5th grades are available here
For 20 years, we have offered parents and students age-appropriate programs with a low child-to-staff ratio. Our staff oversees the program’s daily activities and serves as guides and mentors to ensure that each child’s after-school experience is a positive one.
Parker PM is located on Parker’s campus in the 1st and 2nd grade hallway. Our parents and students have come to see our oversized room as a special place for participating in activities, storing belongings and relaxing. In addition to this space, Parker uses many of the school’s facilities including the playground, athletic field, student kitchen, computer lab, gymnasiums and Lower School classrooms. Children also regularly take advantage of the resources surrounding Parker such as Lincoln Park Zoo and Oz Park.
Because we understand the unique needs of each family, Parker PM offers a variety of enrollment options ranging from daily attendance to an as-needed drop-in basis. Parker PM operates Monday through Friday and follows the school’s academic calendar. Full-day options are available on Lower and Intermediate School Conference Days.
REGISTRATION AND TUITION
For both Parker PM and Parker P.L.U.S., you may register online or conventionally by mail fax at 773-549-4430 or by mail; please note that your student is not enrolled and his/her space is not reserved until payment is received or you have spoken with the director and made specific payment arrangements. For Parker P.L.U.S., early registration is strongly suggested as some classes fill quickly or are cancelled if enrollment is low.
PARKER PM REGISTRATION AND PROGRAM CHANGES
Requests for cancellations or changes to your student’s Parker PM extended day option must be received in writing and will be updated in the next payment cycle. Not attending a program does not constitute an official withdrawal from that program or cancellation of tuition. Requests for cancellations and refunds must be in writing. Please e-mail your written notification to both Stacie Newmark at firstname.lastname@example.org and Shontique Jackson at email@example.com.
PARKER P.L.U.S. CANCELLATION AND REFUNDS

If a student withdraws from a Parker P.L.U.S. class after the 5th week of attendance, we will not issue a refund. If we must cancel a class due to low enrollment, we will issue a full refund. Requests for cancellations and refunds must be in writing. Please e-mail your written notification to both Stacie Newmark at firstname.lastname@example.org and Shontique Jackson at email@example.com.
