Chess Team Qualifies for States

In its inaugural season of competition, the Upper School Chess team has had multiple victories, qualifying for the state finals in Peoria.

The team secured a 2nd place overall finish against all teams in their conference at St. Ignatius’ Chicago Chess Conference Tournament before advancing to the IHSA Sectionals, where they played against a large number of schools from the city and northern suburbs. Despite losing matches against Northbrook (Glenbrook North) and Park Ridge (Maine South), they won matches against Bensenville (Fenton) and Chicago Academy, qualifying the team for state-level competition in Peoria in February.

Congratulations to the entire team for their achievements to date and good luck at states!
