Music Events Take Place in December

The Parker community is welcome to join the school for two upcoming musical events, providing an ample audience to help amplify the talents of those onstage.

Winter Band Concert
Tuesday, December 10 | 7 p.m.
The 7th and 8th Grade Bands, US Concert Band, Advanced Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band and the Drumline present a program of energetic and eclectic music at the Winter Band Concert. Music lovers can visit 18th century Austria with Mozart's Turkish March; the 1980s UK with the heavy metal anthem “Crazy Train”; Australia with “Whirlwind,” which tells the story of Aboriginal culture; and more. Concertgoers experience a wonderful rainbow of musical colors as they watch students playing flute, trumpets, saxophones, xylophones, bass drums, guitars and other instruments.

Winter Choral Concert
Tuesday, December 17 | 7 p.m.
The Winter Choral Concert features 6th–12th grade choirs performing an evening of reflective and contemplative music—everything from contemporary gospel to contemporary choral classics. A highlight of this evening performance is the large-format work “Illuminare,” a 20-minute piece composed by Elaine Hagenberg performed by the US choirs, 7th and 8th grade choirs and Parker's new Adult Community Chorus. Guest performers on violin, viola, cello and percussion will accompany Parker vocalists as part of this exciting presentation.

Please join us for one or both concerts to brighten your December holiday season!
