Upper School Musicians Connect With Professional

Student musicians from Upper School Orchestra met on Monday for the culminating experience of Parker’s Joan W. Harris Visiting Music Scholars in Residence program. Students gathered in the Kovler Family Library to connect for a question and answer session via Skype with pianist Wu Han, co-artistic director of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

Wu Han’s wisdom and charisma were on full display as she regaled students with answers to such questions as, “When did you know you wanted/could become a professional musician?” and “What kind of music is your favorite to play, and, conversely, are there any types of music you don’t like to play? And why?”

Through interactions with professionals and thought leaders like Wu Han, students get firsthand, honest accounts of what following one’s dreams looks like in action. Wu Han’s advice, wit and authenticity will surely stick with these students as they continue to pursue their passions in life.
