Upper School and JK Students Travel Through France Together

By Upper School French teacher Cynthia Marker

Junior Kindergarten teacher Tisha Johnson and I have coordinated monthly get-togethers throughout the year for JK and Upper School French I students. These meetings combine fun and learning as lessons include fun French songs, introduction of themed vocabulary and special design projects under the amazing direction of ILIS Department Chair Annette Lesak in the Kovler Family Library’s TIDES Garage. Upper Schoolers and JK students have decorated snowflakes produced on the laser cutter, learned about famous French bridges (“ponts”) and sung the popular children’s song “Sur le pont d’Avignon.”

We treasure this cross-divisional collaboration and look forward to our continued adventures together. Merci et bonne année!
