Conferences Showcase Faculty Expertise

Parker has a long tradition of bringing in thought leaders from around the country to enhance our community. Whether these visitors are here to lecture to one class, speak in the Heller Auditorium at a symposium or perform music with students, each enriches the healthy growth and development of our community. However, this educational pathway into Parker is not a one-way street; many organizations, when looking for thought leaders, tap the bright minds working at 330 W. Webster Avenue. And this year, Parker is very proud to announce that members of our faculty have been selected to present at two prestigious educational conferences!

In March, Integrated Learning and Information Science Department members Sarah Beebe and Mary Catherine Coleman will team up with 5th grade teacher Mike McPharlin to present at the SXSW EDU® Conference & Festival, a component of the South by Southwest® (SXSW®) family of conferences and festivals. And in April, Beebe and Coleman will again work to “bring the inside out” as they present “Harriet Powers & Quilt Making: Connecting Storytelling, Slow Looking and Visible Thinking with Making” at Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Project Zero conference, Artful Thinking & Learning: Creative Inquiry Across the Disciplines.
