It’s Kindergarten’s Time to March!

Justice and equality are two themes that students in Junior and Senior Kindergarten have been exploring this year. Some classes have studied the impact of pivotal civil rights figures, other classes have had discussions about the ways in which people can be active and equal parts of a community, and all have used age-appropriate books to discuss further, like Peaceful Fights for Equal Rights by Rob Sanders, which was the focus of a recent Morning Ex . 

As all these experiences culminated, our youngest students took part in The March. Starting in the Little School Atrium and traversing throughout the building, each student waved a handmade sign sporting a phrase that resonated for each of them personally.

These students marched in support of strong, smart girls and women everywhere. They marched in support of being kind. They marched to support the idea of “Love being stronger than Hate.” Some could be heard chanting, some waved their handmade signs, but members of the school community who came out to cheer them on received all of them warmly.
