Mindfulness, Mystery and Delight with Dr. Shauna Shapiro

Mindful parenting expert Dr. Shauna Shapiro recently visited the school as Parker’s 21st annual Francine C. Rosenberg Memorial lecturer, combining the ancient wisdom of mindfulness with modern neuroscience to help those in attendance develop a better appreciation for the myriad benefits of mindfulness to our homes, schools, communities and species.

At her gathering with faculty during the school day, and her public lecture for parents and community members in the evening, Shapiro explored the latest advances in science and presented an impressive amount of fascinating clinical research on effectively integrating mindfulness and compassion into parenting and teaching. She also helped to lead the audience in a series of guided reflections to help pique interest in those “nuggets of truth” we are all capable of discovering within ourselves.

Following Shapiro’s lecture, Sally Rosenberg ’79 offered her heartfelt thanks and announced the speaker and date of the 22nd annual Francine C. Rosenberg Lecture: Theaster Gates on “The Resourceful Citizen on, Monday, November 18, 2019 at 7 p.m.
