Upper School Musicians Attend Professional Rehearsal

A cadre of Upper School Orchestra instrumentalists recently witnessed an open rehearsal with members of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, the 2017–18 Joan W. Harris Visiting Music Scholars, at the Harris Theater.

With US Orchestra Director Betty Lewis, Parker’s eight student musicians saw firsthand what a rehearsal is like for professional musicians, who discussed music phrasing, dynamics, tempo and more as they prepared for the evening’s concert. Students then engaged in a question-and-answer session with the quintet.

This field trip provided the students with a perfect opportunity to find further inspiration, learning, appreciation and understanding for the transformative power of classical music.
