Chiles-Twillie and Vargas discussed what drew them to their particular instruments and performed a short excerpt of a work they might play in their day-to-day life. Unlike the larger-format Morning Ex events, this gathering allowed 3rd graders to ask in-depth questions about the musicians’ backgrounds, career paths, aspirations and challenges. The students made astute connections to their own curriculum in music class.
