An Explosion of Scientific Fun at the Chemistry Spectacular

Recently, students in the Advanced Topics in Chemistry class presented the second annual Chemistry Spectacular! Each student selected a topic of interest and worked to master a demonstration to perform for younger students.

Once these Master Student Scientists were ready, Lower and Intermediate School science teachers James Audrain and Heather Sheahan brought a group of 1st, 4th and 5th graders to be the audience. In performing experiments, these Upper School chemistry students showed their younger counterparts how many fun things they will learn as they progress through their science classes at Parker. It also gave the older students a chance to highlight and refine their knowledge because, as I have found, the best way to learn something is to teach it to others.

This event ranged from an explosion of color in a flame and an explosion of rainbow foam to an explosion of scientific interest in these young minds!
