Music Department Celebrates Bonds with Senior Musicians
By Music teacher Alec Synakowski
As a special celebration of their many years of musical study and dedication, 25 Parker senior musicians attended a special “music prom” at Chicago’s Lyric Opera in the Civic Opera House. This year’s performance of West Side Story featured some of the world’s most prominent musicians and actors and allowed audience members to experience a world-class musical production.
As inspiring as the performance was, the event especially celebrated the musical and social bonds between Parker’s students, teachers and their shared art form, as they prepare not to say “goodbye,” but “until next time!” to this wonderful graduating class of senior musicians.
Francis W. Parker School educates students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community.
