Two New Clubs Roll Through Parker

Members of Asian Alliance and Plant-based Club gathered on Tuesday to make vegetable spring rolls.

Asian Alliance is an affinity group where everyone who identifies as Asian or Asian-American can speak freely about their varying experiences. The group brings awareness to their fellow classmates that there is an Asian spectrum, rather than just East Asia. While the point is to deal with issues affecting the MISSING WORD, the group also tries to find interactive ways to connect. There are opportunities to share Asian cultures with the rest of the student body along with celebrating differences between cultures within the club itself. Looking ahead, Asian Alliance is planning a potluck in November before Thanksgiving where students can enjoy food from many different Asian cultures. Sophomore Aidan (please check this!) Young is the president of Asian Alliance.

Plant-based Club (PBC) seeks to educate students about the environmental, ethical and health benefits of adopting a plant-based lifestyle. The organization also serves as a place for social gathering where students can talk about veganism, enjoy vegan food and talk about the news in the vegan community. Last year PBC members made pancakes, discussed the benefits of veganism, debunked vegan myths, watched documentaries and taste-tested vegan cheeses and burgers. Another exciting event held last year was a collaboration with Latin Club where members learned about the predominantly plant-based diet of Roman Gladiators. Upcoming, PBC is going to host a vegan grilled cheese taste test. Plant-based Club was founded by 11th grader Camille Freedman.
