Inside the OR with Dr. Dinee Simpson

As part of Dr. Dinee Simpson’s work with students this year, as Parker’s 13th Annual Robert A. Pritzker Visiting Scientist•Inventor•Engineer in Residence, she had planned to invite a group of science students to scrub-in with her in the operating room so she could demonstrate surgical techniques and help students try their hand at some of them. While COVID-19 has required a rescheduling of this experience, Dr. Simpson still wanted to connect with Parker science students despite social distancing. To this end, she shared a recent video segment highlighting her skills in a real-life kidney transplant surgery for those with an interest. Note: this video includes actual surgical footage that may be disturbing to more sensitive viewers.
