Parker Welcomes New Assistant Principal Priyanka Rupani

Dear Parker Community:

I am excited to report that Parker has successfully completed a nationwide leadership search to find our next Assistant Principal.

Our extensive efforts included reviewing more than 46 qualified resumes, conducting 10 in-depth phone interviews and hosting school visits by finalists.

Parker is extremely fortunate to have found an exceptional progressive educator and administrator in Priyanka Rupani. Priyanka will begin her work at Parker on Thursday, July 1, and she is eager to join the Parker community and support its mission.

Priyanka comes to Parker having served since 2018 as the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. She is herself a graduate of the University of Chicago Laboratory’s High School, after which she went on to earn a BA from Northwestern University in economics and comparative race studies and an MS in education from the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to the Lab Schools, she was Director of Diversity, Equity and Social Justice at the Friends School of Baltimore. In addition to her DEI leadership, Priyanka was a member of Teach for America Philadelphia Corps through which she taught math and African-American history at Mastery Charter Thomas Campus. She has been an educational consultant on DEI matters for The Glasgow Group since 2016 and a faculty and task force member of the National Association of Independent School’s Student Diversity Leadership Conference since 2007.

I am thankful to the teachers, parents, students, trustees and administrators who generously gave their time to the interview process. And I look forward to arranging virtual opportunities for the broader Parker community to welcome Priyanka to Parker.

With a new Assistant Principal with strong foundations in DEI, we are well-positioned for the future, and we will benefit greatly from the experience and ideas that Priyanka will bring to our school.

With warm regards and great appreciation,

Daniel B. Frank, Ph.D.
Principal
