New Resources Available on the Parent Education Resource (PER)

New to the Parent Education Resource this week are the resources the Parker administration provided on Tuesday, April 20, immediately following the guilty verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial for the murder of George Floyd. The email described how each Parker division would approach conversations in the classroom and offered these resources for parents and guardians to access at home and help inform conversations about George Floyd’s murder, the trial, the guilty verdicts on all counts and the painful issues of racial injustice, trauma and discord that continue to cause so much harm to so many. The resources include articles, books, websites, toolkits and more.

Also new this week is a book by Parker alum Eric Klinenberg ’89, Palaces for the People: How Social Infrastructure Can Help Fight Inequality, Polarization and the Decline of Civil Life. The Parker community was treated to a discussion with Professor Klinenberg through a Parents’ Association Community Connect event about his book and societal developments since its publication. Several digital copies are available to borrow through the Parker Kovler Family Library, and Parker parents and guardians may also borrow a physical copy by contacting PACommConn@fwparker.org.
