Corinthians Morning Exercise

Since the school’s founding in 1901, Parker has begun each academic year with the Corinthians Morning Ex, and while this year may look different, the tradition continued on. Students gathered outside on the field where Principal Dan Frank reinforced the belief that all individuals in our school community matter.

Every year, since the first Corinthians Morning Ex in 1901, a member of the community has read from Corinthians 12:14–26, reminding the assembly of Parker’s commitment to each individual in our community; this year 1st grade teacher Bev “Greenie” Greenberg read the selection. Additionally, to highlight how these ideals of our shared humanity and commitment to each other are global in scope, there were three additional pieces on the program. Upper School French teacher Lorin Pritikin read a piece from Moroccan writer Tahar Ben Jelloun, Upper School History Department Chair Andy Bigelow read words from American civil rights activist Ella Baker and Assistant Principal Priyanka Rupani shared a selection from American author Adrienne Maree Brown.

Finally, representatives from each grade, faculty and alumni rose in place as music teacher Kingsley Tang led the school in singing the traditional song, “Who’s Got a Piece of the House?”.
