Alumni Reunite On Campus, Around Chicago and Virtually!

Reunion Weekend 2021 was held October 1–3, 2021, and celebrated classes ending in 0, 1, 5 and 6. Many alumni had been planning their gatherings since Fall of 2019, so the anticipation was high! The weekend kicked off with the Alumni of Color and Friends Luncheon on Friday and concluded with a family barbecue on Sunday afternoon.

Alumni from around the world joined for celebrations throughout the weekend. Friday included a school tour, hosted by Principal Dan Frank ’74. Dr. Frank then hosted a State of the School address in the Heller Auditorium. Immediately following, 120 alumni gathered in the courtyard for live music, cocktails and treats. This was also the first time that alumni got a sneak peek and a chance to buy merchandise from the new Alumni Spirit Store!  

Saturday morning, the first annual Parents of Alumni brunch was hosted in the Kovler Family Library. Parents and guardians of alumni shared stories, enjoyed brunch and made connections at this new tradition. After brunch, a wonderful group celebrating 40 years (or more!) as alumni and members of the Anita McCormick Blaine Planned Giving Society were honored at lunch at Mon Ami Gabi. Guests were treated to a special surprise—alumna Sophie Haroutunian-Gordon ’61 shared a poem she had written just for the occasion. The class of ’61 even hosted their own Reunion celebration that afternoon, which included a Zoom with remote classmates.

Saturday evening was packed with class parties held in venues and homes around the city. The informal reports the next morning were that fun was had by all! Sunday included the Rick Haskins Memorial Soccer Match, the first Alumni Field Hockey Game and a family barbecue with amazing food from Parker’s very own Chef Zac. 

The Alumni Office would like to extend its deep appreciation for the 103 class reunion volunteers who rallied their classes and organized meaningful gatherings (both in-person and virtually) for 28 reunion classes, everyone who celebrated Reunion on and off campus and especially for being so supportive of our health and safety protocols. It helped the weekend run smoothly and safely!
