Partnership Prevails Over Pandemic

Almost 500 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered when Parker hosted four days of vaccination clinics. Children ages 5–11 received the lion’s share of doses, while others took advantage of the opportunity to get their first shot or a booster at the events.

Each day of the event saw a steady stream of patients and parents, eager for a visit from the medical professionals on hand providing the shots. Smiles were apparent throughout the Big Gym thanks to Parker parent/guardian volunteers on hand thoughtfully providing books, coloring pages, a TV viewing area, guidance and more to make this important event easier for the young ones.

This multi-day pop-up clinic culminated the collaborative efforts of many within and outside Parker, including the administrative, nursing and technology teams; the Parents’ Association Engagement Committee; and the leadership of our Medical Advisory Committee working with vaccine providers Instavax and Healthfirst Pharmacy in partnership with 43rd Ward Alderperson Michelle Smith.

Many thanks to all who helped make these clinics a success, and we hope for a repeat in three weeks.
