Senior Seminar Welcomes Jonathan Alter ’75

This week, Jonathan Alter ’75, nationally known journalist and historian, was a guest speaker in Principal Dan Frank’s winter mini-seminar for seniors, “The Psychology of Democracy.”

Alter spoke about the erosion of political norms that threaten American democracy, the subsequent psychological toll on the nation as a whole and the need for citizens and leaders to maintain a strong emotional resolve to collaborate on preserving those democratic norms. Alter noted that he first learned about journalism and became interested in the field when he was a Parker student and took a mini-course on journalism taught by Frank’s father in the early 1970s.

Parker is grateful to Alter for sharing his expertise with seniors as they step forward into becoming active members of our nation’s democracy.
