French Students Present at Theater Festival

French II students have prepared scenes to present at this year’s Francophone Youth Theater Festival, joining participating students in other Chicago high school French classes. As in the past, playwright, director and actress Pascale Daniel, who lives in the south of France, wrote the scenes expressly for Parker French students. Because the Festival has shifted from an in-person event on The University of Chicago campus to virtual, the scenes were filmed at Parker thanks to the kind assistance of Auditorium Manager extraordinaire Mr. Tom Moster. The two French II sections, composed of sophomores and seniors, worked in rehearsals to refine their pronunciation, intonation and natural delivery to present their scenes as a final project. We will share the attached photos and videos of our process with the Festival directors for inclusion in the virtual event this year.

This special project was made possible by Mr. Moster’s advanced expertise, techniques developed over the last two years to share webinar-style versions of live performances and, of course, the sincere dedication of French students who attained the lofty goal of mastering authentic accents and witty repartee in only their second year of our program.
