Hansell Endowed Poet Returns

Former Poetry Society of America Executive Director and Parker graduate Elise Paschen ’77 returned to campus to share more about herself, her work and her process with Upper School students as the school’s 8th Annual Jeanne Harris Hansell Endowed Poet.

Paschen first met with the entire 9th grade class in the Sheridan Family Café where she read a selection of poems and fielded questions. She then visited Alicia Abood’s Writer’s Studio elective to read some of her work, which the class had been studying recently, share personal details at play in her in life when writing those pieces and speak about her personal process as a creative writer.

Before departing, Paschen shared lunch with student poets and English faculty, providing an informal time and space for all to share.

Thanks to Pashen and the English Department for making these opportunities possible for Parker students!
