Asian Alliance Club Celebrates AAPI Heritage Month
By Asian Alliance Club member Maddy Young
To honor Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, which is in May, the Upper School Asian Alliance Club has created an infographic. AAPI Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions and positive impact that Asian and Pacific Islander Americans have brought to the United States.
To celebrate the Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in our Parker community, we sent around a survey with questions such as, “What part of your Asian culture are you most connected to and why?”, “What is your family’s experience like being an Asian-American in today's society?” and “How has your Asian identity been influenced by the Parker community?”. Respondents could answer as few or as many questions as they felt comfortable with and had the opportunity to stay anonymous. Having the chance to share our perspectives with others provides the opportunity for everybody in our community to both connect and learn from different experiences. Following the responses, we created an infographic that compiled all of the responses that we received.
For the entirety of the month of May, the infographic will be in the Kovler Family Library, available for everyone to view. We hope you can stop by and take a look to learn more about the experiences of Asian and Pacific Islander Americans in our community!
