Second Grade Poets Share

Second grade students recently welcomed their parents and guardians to the classroom to share a poetry slam featuring their original work.

For the past several weeks, students have been reading and writing a wide range of poetry, and these class-based gatherings provided an ideal venue for these aspiring poets to share their creative words on topics ranging from the seasons, activism, pets and sounds of the city to big feelings and more. Parent and guardian volunteers surprised students by decorating their classrooms for this special event, and guests enjoyed a sampling of the students’ emerging poetic talent.
Great work to all involved!
