Athletes Receive National Recognition

Parker’s Athletics program aims to help student-athletes maximize their athletic potential, and several athletes achieved great success this summer as they pursued their passions outside our school walls.

Senior Ana Franco, sophomore Gemma Franco and 8th grader Sonia Pettinelli made it to the national round of the USA Field Hockey’s Nexus Championship in Virginia Beach. Nexus is USA field Hockey’s training program that evaluates players on a local level, invites select players to a regional selection weekend, then invites a select group of players to compete on a national level. In fact, Gemma Franco made it to the USA Field Hockey’s Junior Olympic team!

Another student-athlete who spent time this summer dedicated to their craft was junior Kai Uemura. Previously, Uemura won a Gold Medal in Germany as part of the U.S. Gymnastics team. Picking up where he left off, Uemura won the junior division of the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Tampa, Florida! He successfully defended his title in the horizontal bars and picked up additional gold medals in all-around and parallel bars, which qualifies him again to become a Junior National Team member.

We recognize and congratulate these Upper School students on all the hard work that led them to these awards!
