Altered Paintings and Photos, Choice Projects and More

A spectacular array of recent works by Parker’s talented student-artists are on display in the Kupcinet Gallery for the school community to enjoy.

Upper School painters identified an existing work they liked and accepted a challenge to reproduce the work, altering it in some way to express a different message. Some 8th grade artists devised themes of their own, expressing them using media and methods of their choosing, including watercolor, acrylic, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil and more. Other 8th grade creators used painting, drawing, writing, embroidery, weaving and collage to alter photographs and give them new meaning. In their photography classes, Upper School auteurs have been working on personal choice projects and using their lenses to explore how photographs define place.
