Connections Made and Shared in Upper School French and the Lower School

Recently, students in Upper School French teacher Cynthia Marker’s class took to the TIDES Garage to complete their annual Francophone-themed Makers’ Project.

After their projects were complete, Middle and Upper School Librarian Annette Lesak displayed their work in the Kovler Family Library; when 2nd graders in Rose Coll’s class saw these projects, they burst with excitement because they were also working on studying France in their classroom!

Seeing this natural point of connection, Marker worked with Sarah Beebe and the Integrated Learning and Information Science Department to facilitate a meeting for Upper School French students to create pieces representing aspects pf French culture to share with Coll’s 2nd graders. And “the 2nd graders used facts they've researched in their classrooms, along with facts they learned from US French students, to create a Thinglink,” shared Beebe.

From chocolate croissants to the timeless story of “The Little Prince,” these Lower and Upper School students shared their knowledge and reaffirmed bonds that exist across grade levels in Parker’s Model Home.
