Paperartists in the House
In a recent study of work focusing on themes of power and social reform, Art teacher Caroline Gardner introduced her 6th graders to work by artists Laetitia Ky and Asya Kozina.
Gardner then challenged students in her class to create paper sculptures of their own focusing on a topic of their choice.
Working in groups, students learned a range of paper sculpture techniques and artfully assembled them to convey their desired message. Their final projects are a feast for the eyes and reflect topics touching on the war in Ukraine, screen addiction, AI, socioeconomic inequality, mental health, pollution, turtles, religious harmony and more.
