Scholastic Bowl Shows Strong at State

Please help Parker congratulate our Upper School athletic teams as they continue their push for excellence throughout the IHSA State Championship Playoff Series. Thank you for supporting your Winter/Spring 2022–23 Colonels within the school and at our competitions.

Scholastic Bowl
On Saturday, March 18, the Upper School Scholastic Bowl team competed admirably in its first-ever trip to the IHSA state finals at Heartland Community College in Normal, Ill.

The tournament consisted of the eight Class A sectional champions, which were randomly drawn into two pools of four. Parker drew the more difficult side of the field and lost by a razor-thin 30-point margin to Winnebago in the opener. With their backs against the wall, the team bounced back with a 470-140 victory against Cumberland in round 2. Needing a win against the clear-cut top team Uni High (Urbana) to advance to the 3rd place game, Parker hung tough in the first half before ultimately falling by a final of 550-200. This result landed them in a tie for 5th place in the state.

The team is excited about reaching new heights this year and is motivated to come back and improve upon their performance at next year's state series. Though this tournament marked the end of the IHSA season, the team looks forward to competing in the Small Schools National Championship Tournament in April and improving upon last year’s 17th-place finish.
