Scholastic Bowl Takes On Nationals
On Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, Parker’s Upper School Scholastic Bowl team competed in the NAQT Small Schools National Championship Tournament at the Hyatt Regency in Rosemont, Illinois. The best small programs from across the country qualify for this prestigious event based on strong performances at invitational tournaments throughout the school year.
For the third time in a row, Parker qualified two teams for the 55-team independent school division. The A team finished with a 9-1 record in prelims on Saturday, earning an 8-seed in Sunday morning’s double elimination playoff. They earned a thrilling 330-320 comeback victory over 9-seed Miami Valley (Ohio) in the first round of the playoffs, before bowing out with two consecutive losses. They finished 11th out of 55, the program’s best performance ever at the tournament. Grant Koh earned a spot on the tournament all-star team, finishing 8th in individual scoring out of 263 players. Meanwhile, the B team scrapped to a 5-5 record in prelims, including a 195-190 overtime victory over Westbrook Christian (Alabama) to finish off their day. They narrowly missed out on the winning record necessary to make the playoffs, but finished the day ranked 28th out of 55, by far the best performance ever by our B team.
Congratulations to nationals participants Leo Auerbach ‘23, Logan Florsheim ‘25, Lincoln Hamid ‘25, Timo Kiep ‘23, Grant Koh ’24, Annoshae Mirza ‘25, Beckett Nikitas ’25 and Warner Vance ‘24. The team will look to cap off its season on a high note with an upcoming trip to Atlanta for the NAQT High School National Championship Tournament.
