SOCA Gathers Across All Grades to Celebrate

By 2nd Grade teacher and advisor Brittney Washington
The purpose of Students of Color Affinity groups at Parker is to provide a place for children of color to come together and get to know each other while developing a strong sense of identity. SOCA allows children to create connections across grade levels while having the opportunity to embrace their family structure, play and share, and strengthen their sense of self, voice and engagement in the world around them.

To celebrate an amazing year of SOCA, we held a fun party with the SOCA groups in the Lower, Intermediate, Middle and Upper Schools. This was the first time all groups have gathered at one time, but it surely will not be the last.
