Admission Outreach and Casa Central

While our faculty attended professional development workshops in November, the Parker Admission team recently combined its ongoing outreach and recruitment efforts with a community engagement project.

The team visited Casa Central, a Latino social service agency in Humboldt Park unique in its history and outstanding in its ability to provide high quality and culturally appropriate human services to individuals and families in need. Parker has had a relationship with Casa Central for more than 50 years through our community service program in the Middle and Upper Schools. The parent community engaged with Casa Central for our centennial service project and has supported the agency in various initiatives. Our Admission Director Karen Fisher has been a board member at Casa Central since 1985.

Karen, Paige, Melisha, Katy and Amanda visited the agency and spent the day visiting with the four-year-olds in the Headstart Program as well as with senior citizens in the Adult Wellness Program. Engaging in everything from literacy activities with the young children to salsa dancing with the seniors, Parker’s tradition of outreach and engagement is thriving.
