MacArthur Fellow at Morning Ex

Social justice activist Rami Nashashibi, recently named MacArthur Fellow and Parker parent to Adam ’29, Jena ’23 and Nia ’26, recently met with students as part of a Morning Ex.

As the founder and executive director of Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), a nonprofit agency working across religious, ethnic, generational, income and other boundaries for social justice and human dignity on Chicago’s Southwest Side, Nashashibi was one of 24 recipients recognized with MacArthur Foundation “genius” grant in October for creatively confronting the challenges of poverty and disinvestment in urban communities.

At Morning Ex, Nashashibi described IMAN’s work and his long history of working with typically disparate constituencies to achieve common goals around shared values of social justice.
