French Students Perform at Francophone Theatre Festival

Upper School students in Cynthia Marker’s French IV class recently performed Olivier Tourancheau’s Technophobie at the Francophone Theatre Festival at Curie High School. This marks the second consecutive year the school has participated in the festival.

 

Tecnhophobie presents a comical debate among adolescents about the pros and cons of our society’s reliance on technology. Monsieur Tourancheau kindly adapted his work to include our 11 French IV students, and the class memorized and rehearsed the play for an extended period before presenting at the festival.

 

The incorporation of improvisation and theatrical techniques at this advanced level of their studies offers students the opportunity to increase their ease with conversational French, while the comedic nature of the piece made for an enjoyable and creative rehearsal process. Chapeau or “hats off” to our amazing French IV students who once again represented Parker very well at this international celebration of the dramatic arts!
