Parker and the American Mathematics Competition

Parker means Math! This year a record number of Upper School students participated in the 2017 American Mathematics Competition. From six participants in 2015 and 2016 combined, this year the number of Parker students involved jumped to 27! All grades were represented as students deduced, computed, scribbled and reasoned their way through 25 multiple-choice questions for 75 intense minutes. As written in the AMC teachers’ manual: “The Mathematical Association of America’s American Mathematics Competitions program leads the nation in strengthening the mathematical capabilities of the next generation of problem-solvers...[and] positively impacts the analytical skills needed for future careers in an innovative society.” What better fit for a school where the needs of society determine our work?
