Scholastic Bowl Members Receive Honors

By Scholastic Bowl Coach Ethan Levine
Each year, the Illinois High School Scholastic Bowl Coaches Association (IHSSBCA) selects the top individual players on all-sectional and all-state teams for recognition. Contributing to the selections are statistics and narrative the coaches provide about all varsity team competitions prior to the IHSA regional. (For us, this means our league meets, Kickoff and Turnabout.)

This year, sophomore Grant Koh was one of 12 players voted to the All-Sectional team for Class A section 8, made up of the 32 teams that competed for the Seneca sectional championship. Seniors Mia Wichman and Mason Gardner were also nominated for all-sectional honors.

The top six finishers in each section’s voting are automatically considered for all-state honors. Class A and Class AA each select a 1st team and a 2nd team, consisting of 10 players each. This year, Grant was voted to the Class A 2nd team all-state. This is an outstanding accomplishment, and Grant is Parker’s first-ever Scholastic Bowl all-state honoree.

Congratulations to these three on well-deserved recognition!
