Colonels Win Sportsmanship Award in Big Dipper Tournament
By Head Coach Jarrick McGee
Parker’s Boys’ Varsity Basketball team traveled to the Rich Township Big Dipper Tournament during the December Recess and finished in 8th place out of 16 teams.
The Colonels had the biggest upset of all the Holiday Tournaments in Illinois by defeating Thornton Township 78 to 68. It was a team effort, and the boys played very well as a unit.
The Colonels weren’t as fortunate in their next three games in the Championship bracket against Perspectives Leadership, Thornwood and Chicago Agriculture & Science.
The boys finished with a 1-3 record but came out of the tournament with some accolades. The team won the Sportsmanship Award and, as far as individuals, senior Caleb David was selected as 1st team All-Conference by averaging 20 points a game during the tournament.
