Culture, Tapas and a Field Trip in Advanced Spanish
By Upper School Spanish teacher Julia Garner
On Wednesday, March 1, students in Advanced Spanish took a field trip to sample some Spanish tapas at Bulerías as a follow-up to a reading about the tradition of “el tapeo” (going out for tapas) in Spain.
The students especially liked the patatas bravas, the paella and the tortilla española.
This semester students are studying the culture and history of Spain. They began the semester with an exploration of current topics in Spain—the Catalonian independence movement, regional gastronomy, Roma civil rights and the debate over bull fighting—through newspaper articles, videos and essays.
