Celebrating Literacy in the Lower School

The Lower School community recently hosted two experiences celebrating children’s books and literacy.

Junior Kindergarten classrooms were alive with guest readers for JK Read Day. Teachers invited students’ parents and guardians to class to share their favorite stories and help spread the love of reading among the students.

On the same day, 1st grade students showcased their emergent literacy skills with parents/guardians in the annual Reader’s Theater. Students in each homeroom collaborated on dramatic and animated renditions of three stories to showcase what they had learned about reading thus far this year.
