Advanced Choral Ensemble Lauded at IHSA Music Competition
Parker’s Upper School Advanced Choral Ensemble received superior ratings, a perfect score and “Best of the Day” recognition in competition.
Judges at the Illinois High School Association Organizational Music Contest at Harvard High School judged each of the three pieces performed by 37 school choirs as superior, excellent, good, fair or poor.
Singers in Advanced Choral Ensemble officially received a Division I—Superiorrating, earning 39.3/40 for their performances of “Choose Love” by Kyle Pederson and “North” by Ryan O’Neal (originally performed by Sleeping at Last).
These students also received a perfect 40/40 score from all the judges for their performance of “Apple Tree” by Katerina Gimon (originally performed by Aurora). Shoutout to fearless Department Chair Rob Denien for his fantastic accompaniment and impressive playing of multiple drums at once!
The following day, teachers learned that the ensemble received the “Best of the Day” award, earning the highest combined score among the Chicago-area high school choirs performing that weekend.
These accolades have been a fantastic culmination of students’ hard work this school year. Kudos to the following students on their excellent performances and for showcasing the beautiful talent Parker has to offer:
