Amplify Dazzles at Music at the Parks

By Performing Arts Department Co-Chair Rob Denien
On Saturday, Amplify (our extracurricular Middle School chorus) performed at this year's Music at the Parks festival. Nearly 30 middle and high school choirs, bands and orchestras from various states gathered to perform for collegiate judges. Groups received either a Superior, Excellent, Good or Fair ranking.

Amplify was outstanding. They received a Superior (and a perfect score on one of their pieces). They were top in their division (organized by school size), they were the best choir of the day (middle and high schools included), and, of all the ensembles (including band and orchestra) that participated, Amplify received the highest combined score of all groups. Most importantly, the students represented our school so well—everything from walking from the buses to the school, to waiting on the risers patiently and silently to “pleases and thank yous” was present.

If you get the chance, please congratulate our singers; they put in a lot of hard work this year to make Saturday the success it was. If you’d like, please also check out the video of our performance below.

Last, a massive thank you to the team of adults that braved the 80+-degree heat and a 12-hour day to ensure our kids were taken care of: Christian Jackson, Sarah Jenks (our accompanist), Bonita Barnett, Alex Munro, Tom Moster and Dana O'Brien.
