Senior Singers Shine at Millikin Vocal Festival

Eight senior vocalists from our Advanced Choral Ensemble performed at the Millikin University Vocal Festival. 

This two-day event brought together student representatives from around 40 schools to sing in rigorous, collegiate-level rehearsals, with the goal of making brand-new music performance-ready for a community concert the next day. Students then experienced an evening concert of college choirs, explored campus, and bonded. 

This year’s program also included a solo contest, with more than 50 students singing for solo voice professors in 10-minute “mini lessons.” Professors selected 14 students as finalists and awarded the top three soloists with scholarships, cash, and the opportunity to perform their solo in the final concert. 

This year, the professors selected Parker senior Sam Goldblatt as the second-place winner! He performed “Pur dicesti, o bocca bella” by Antonio Lotti. 

Parker congratulates Goldblatt on this accomplishment and all of the 12th grade vocalists for representing the school at the festival.
