More than 80 administrators from more than 40 schools around the country came together at Parker for the 9th annual Administrators of Color in Independent Schools Conference.
This year’s gathering spanned three days, which included an opening keynote from author Tre Johnson, and participants had the chance to meet with Johnson and receive a signed copy of his book Black Genius. The event also included student-led tours of the school, a student panel, and a visit to the Obama Presidential Center. Administrators explored the Center on a guided tour while immersing themselves in the surrounding architecture and features. Participants also enjoyed Tarafi’s Kitchen, a restaurant honoring late Obama family personal chef Tafari Campbell.
Participants also had time to connect, mentor, and share with one another. The event was punctuated by social gatherings, including a welcome dinner sponsored by Strategenius, a closing reception sponsored by The Glasgow Group, and a Saturday brunch sponsored by Joy-Raising featuring Dr. Gholdy Muhammad.
Parker looks forward to hosting the Administrators of Color in Independent Schools Conference next year on Thursday, October 21 through Saturday, October 23, 2027.
