MS Robotics Teams Advance to Sectionals

Parker’s five Middle School Robotics teams competed in a recent qualifier tournament, and two teams advanced to Sectional competition.

This year’s FIRST LEGO League theme is UNEARTHED℠ and focuses on archaeology. The theme encourages students to explore history, uncover artifacts and apply STEM skills to understand the past and the future. Teams build robots out of LEGO pieces and program them to complete missions related to excavation and preservation of materials during gameplay to score points. In addition to the robot competition, the event includes presentations and places a major emphasis on FIRST Core Values, such as teamwork, inclusion and gracious professionalism.

The five teams traveled to Lincoln Park High School for the qualifying tournament, and they rose to the challenge by performing very well. Team Old Dino Bones won the Core Values Award for their excellent attitudes and teamwork, and team Pumpkin earned the Innovation Project Award for their impressive prototype and presentation. Old Dino Bones and Pumpkin advanced to Sectionals based on their total points and awards. Parker will host the Sectional Tournament on Saturday, January 17.

The school can’t wait to see how Old Dino Bones and Pumpkin perform on their home turf in January. Great job to all of the teams!
