Sharing Reading in 3rd Grade

Third grade students invited parents and guardians to their classrooms to share their progress in reading and writing.

The 3rd Grade Reader Share took place early in the morning, just after arrival time. Parents and guardians joined their children in their classroom to read a story together and create a map of the text, noting setting, character traits, problem, plot and theme. One homeroom added Reader’s Theater performances to their gathering; small groups of students worked together to perform stories from Jon Scieszka’s 1998 children’s book Squids Will Be Squids: Fresh Morals, Beastly Fables for their parent/guardian audience.
