US Jazz Band Plays FitzGerald’s

Parker’s US Jazz Band took its show on the road and made its mainstage debut this spring at the world-famous FitzGerald’s nightclub in Berwyn, Illinois. The band played a highly energized jazz set as the musical opener for the professional Shout Section Big Band.

Our jazz students’ set featured tunes from across the genre's gamut—ranging from the Brazilian bossa nova standard “Girl from Ipanema” to classic blues like “Sonnymoon for Two” and the ever-popular “Mercy, Mercy, Mercy.”

After the students played a great high energy set, it was especially inspiring to see Parker’s adjunct faculty mentors take the stage and rock the house with the second-to-none Shout Section Big Band.

It was a magical, musical evening for all; stay tuned for more musical events like this in the future!
