Chess Team Victory Defies the Odds

Six of Parker’s chess masters won against an opposing team of eight.

Members of Parker’s Upper School chess team traveled to St. Rita for their first conference game this season and won with only six players against St. Rita’s team of eight, with a final score of 36.5 to 31.5.

For this match, Parker was fortunate to have five players returning from last year's team: seniors Josephine McCloskey and William McCloskey, juniors Wallace Davis and Isaiah Jakobe and sophomore Griffin Florsheim. Additionally, they are thrilled to welcome sophomore Alec Hananel as their newest member and thankful to interim coach Danny McDermott for his leadership while we await Matt McCaw's return to chess next season.

Congratulations to the team! Parker looks forward to an exciting season ahead for all of the Colonel chess masters!
