Photography and Architecture Students Take Field Trip
Upper School Photography and Architecture students turned the city into a classroom in a recent field trip.
Photography teacher Caroline Gardner wanted to give her students a hands-on opportunity to apply what they have learned in class following their study of Vivian Maier and her work. To make this happen, she took students downtown so they could practice street photography in-situ. Travis Chandler’s Architecture students joined the excursion and enjoyed a walking tour of Chicago’s architectural landmarks, capturing photographs of notable examples along the way.
Both classes will use the photos from this excursion as inspiration and reference for future projects. This trip marked the second annual joint field trip between the two classes and was a great success, highlighted by beautiful weather and the inspiring cityscapes of downtown Chicago.
Francis W. Parker School educates students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community.
