Students engaged in a PE unit that combined teaching, creativity, problem-solving, cooperation, research and product development.
The Intermediate School PE Fair unit encouraged students to undertake independent research on one of a range of concepts they learned in class this year.
After selecting a topic from options including fitness development, motor skill development, game creation, equipment invention, the history of sport and rhythmic collaboration, students worked in small groups to create a final project with visual aids, an oral component and a hands-on demonstration.
Students from the 4th and 5th grades showcased their projects to their peers in a science-fair-meets-gym-class environment, the Intermediate School PE Fair. Presenters each stood by their projects as younger and older students rotated through the gym, learning, moving their bodies, laughing and making connections.
Francis W. Parker School educates students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse democratic society and global community.
