Corinthians Morning Exercise Welcomes Community

Since the school’s founding in 1901, Parker has begun each academic year with the Corinthians Morning Ex, and the tradition continued this year.

Students gathered to the sound of bagpipes in the Heller Auditorium, where Head of Intermediate and Middle Schools Tray White read the traditional excerpt from Corinthians 12:14–26, reminding the assembly of Parker’s commitment to each individual in the community. The Upper School Advanced Choral Ensemble accompanied White during his reading by singing Parker’s alma mater.

Next, Principal Dan Frank reinforced the belief that all individuals matter and spoke about the history and importance of this Morning Ex as a unifying element that reaffirms the community’s connections and commitment to one another. Head of Upper School Cory Zeller welcomed three students to the stage: Sophomore Alaina Prokup read a quote from Ruth Bader Ginsburg, junior Trisen Phillips chose a quote from Desmond Tutu, and senior Leo Daniels-Henning selected a message from Ella Baker. Each of them discussed their respective passage’s relevance and importance.

The Morning Ex ended with the tradition of having each part of the Parker community adding their own puzzle piece to Parker’s model home, while Music Department Chair Kingsley Tang and Choral Music teacher Christian Jackson led the audience in singing, “Who’s Got a Piece of the House?”
